Below these is the list of ways that you can use to speed up your computer or windows:-

Step 1: Remove Any Unused Software

You will not use half of the programs that have been installed in your computer. Remove the software’s which have no longer need to accelerate significantly the Windows XP-based computer. These are the Steps how u can remove any software’s from your computers:-

  1. Go to Control Panel (Start and go to Control Panel) and select Add or Remove Programs. It may take some time to download the list, depending on how much software’s you have installed in your computer.
  2. Go through the entire list by selecting the programs that you rarely use, and uninstall them one by one.
  3. Restart your computer to see the changes.

Step 2: Use less graphics

Let me ask question? Do you really need to have animations or screensavers in your system, yes it makes your pc look fancy but in the mean time it makes your PC slower too. So I recommend that remove all that animations and screensavers.

Below are the steps on how to remove the animations or screensavers:-

  • First go to Control Panel, and then go to System and select the advanced tab. Click the Performance tab.

  • In the second Visual Effects window, turn off all animations in the box, or simply choose “Adjust for best performance”, as shown in the screenshot to the right. Press Apply.

  • In the same window Performance Options, click the advanced tab and click the Change button in the area of ??virtual memory. From there you can change the size of the paging file -

  • File on the hard disk that acts like RAM. By increasing the size of the swap files, which can significantly increase the speed, but beware! Using your hard drive as RAM can damage it, so it’s a good idea to buy more RAM instead.

Step 3: Clean your registry

You should periodically clean the Windows XP registry to remove the old mistakes that can block the registration. To clean the record, you must use registry cleaner software reliable. I should recommend to use Glary utilities software to clean the Windows XP registry.

Step 4: Disable unwanted startup programs

Removing the software, which is configured to open automatically when the computer starts, you can significantly speed up the boot process – the time between turnings on the computer and is completely able to use it.

Here’s how to disable startup programs:

  1. Click Run on the Start menu, type msconfig in the box and press ENTER.
  2. And then Select the Startup tab.
  3. Third through the list, disable programs you do not need by unchecking the box to the left of them. Only disable the programs you are sure you do not need and I recommend not to touch them in the Windows folder.

Step 5: Clean your hard drive

Perform a Disk Cleanup can free up hard disk space and also speed up your computer. To use the Disk Cleanup tool:

  • First Go to Start menu and then select Run and type cleanmgr.exe. Press Enter.
  • It will likely take some time, especially if you’ve never used this tool before.

Step 6: Defragment hard drives

Defragment your hard disk can make a big difference in the speed of your computer. Defragmenting files physically closer to the places on the hard disk, making it easier and faster for the hard drive to read these files and write new ones. It’s a good idea to defragment your hard drive regularly so it is always optimal.

There are also many commercial defrag programs, which are more efficient than the tool of Windows and have a wide range of functions. If you do not want to spend money for this, I again recommend Glary utilities to Defragment the disk.

Here’s how to defragment your hard disk with the built-in Windows:

  • First In My Computer, right click on a drive that you want to defragment.
  • Click Tools and select Defragment Now
  • Click the Analyze button, the first to analyze the hard drive and fragmented as it is.

Once the report is complete and the system considers it necessary to perform a defragmentation press wrong. It will take a very long time, but you must be patient.

Step 7: Use PC Optimization Tools

Use glary utilities tool to do the rest of your works. As it also cleans the duplicate files in your computers which uses unnecessary space of your hard drivers. Glary Utilities will find the duplicates files and automatically deletes it.
